Here i will post about the work i am doing as a first year shadowing and assisting a 3rd year fashion student with their final collection.

Tuesday

GRADUATE FASHION WEEK..

so yesterday we went to earls court to see the stands at graduate fashion week, there was some absolutely amazing pieces on show from various different university's and colleges, i particularly liked the work from De Montford. i took pictures of pieces i liked the most....i also really liked the way some of the stalls were set out, i loved the red and black room.
I also bumped in Henry Holland which was amazing as im a massive fan of his work!
the work i saw was impressive and helped me to realise the calibre of work im expected to produce, over-all a good day.

FASHION SHOW...

over-all i really enjoyed helping out at the fashion, it provided me with valuable experience for the future and gave me an insight into what sort of environment i could be working in. my favourite part was the actual dressing, i like working at a fast pace, but enjoyed it all as a whole, just wish i could of seen the show!

HAIR AND MAKE-UP.

the models all had the same hair and make-up, we made sure melissa was in and out as quick as poss so we had enough time for her to be ready for the show.

BACK STAGE AT THE SHOW...

we had to collect outfits from various collection and put them in the order we'd need them throughout the show.

MELISSA...

here was the info we were given about our model, stating her dress size shoe size etc, also the running order in-which she was on show, we were given the designers names and the running order and had to sort outfits for Melissa from each designer and find shoes in her size from each collection.

GRADUATE FASHION SHOW...

So, wednesday and thursday we worked behind the scenes at our graduate fashion show, i had the role of 'dresser', my duties included taking care of our model, making sure all of our outfits were in order, making sure the model had refreshments etc, making sure we were on time and where we needed to be when we needed to be there. I was working with catherine and our model was called melissa, she was a 20 year old model from manchester, very pretty girl!
Overall i think the 'helping the 3rd year' was a valuable and enjoyable experience, it helped me gain confidence in my knitting skills and made me aware of the sort of work i'll be expected to produce when im in my final year.

FINAL IMAGES OF COLLECTION...

KNITWEAR...

Sarah asked me to help her out with her knitwear garments, it was my responsibility to make the pieces which were going to be made into a jumper for her final collection, while i felt a little under-pressure doing this, because i didn't want to ruin her final collection, i did enjoy helping out. She showed the colours and the sort of designs she wanted and i got into it! we went for mustard and blood-red shades, and i chose to use a range of threads to vary the shape, size and colour of the knit samples.

PHOTOSHOOT...

after a few shots near the lake we moved onto a second park when it was a little darker for a few more shots. these ones were a little more theatrical and were to depict a 'chase' scene between the 'killer' and the 'victim'. i didnt manage to get any of my own imagery here.

PHOTOSHOOT...

After the shots in the house, we moved onto the next location which was at Markeaton park. we did shots around the lake and a few poses on some trees. here are a few of the images i took.

Saturday

IN HOUSE...

After hair and make up was done, there was a few images taken in the house, as our first location. Sarah was also modelling some of the garments so was dressed as well as the model. There was shots don in the hallway and on the staircase, Sarah wanted the shoot to look theatrical, like a scene out of a film so there were a few motion shots, where the model would be walking or running. Sarah posed with some shears, these were relevant to the theme of the photoshoot and garments named 'the tailors chainsaw massacre' here are a few images i took whilst on shoot.

PHOTOSHOOT...

here are a few images i took whilst setting up for the photoshoot.

PHOTOSHOOT...

so the photoshoot was held at someones house and in 2 areas of a park. i met Sarah at uni, to finish off a few bits and bobs and then we met up with the photographer and model. We went onto the first location, which happened to be the photographers house and i began work on the models hair and make-up. keeping the ideas for make up the same as before, and we decided upon a messy and loose curl for her hair. i looked at a few images on-line and in magazines for hair ideas, so was easy to create the look Sarah wanted.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD47yv2NfMw here i looked at a make-up tutorial to work out how to create some of the ideas id had.

MY MAKE UP IDEAS....

here are a few of the images i looked at online, and some that i came up with in my sketch book. i decided to keep with the smoked eye look that Sarah wanted but make it a bit darker, i also had the idea to smear it a little, to make it look a bit messier.

MAKE UP IDEAS...

Sarah asked if i could come up with some ideas for the make-up for the photoshoot, i had a look through her sketchbook at some of the ideas she had come up with, then made a few of my own. Sarah wanted a dark eye with red lips, so i looked online and in magazines at some images that i thought might work with the theme and sketched a few myself.

MAKING MASKS...

Sarah, my third year decided to make the base for the mask herself, it was the basic shape of a face made up of paper-mache and tissue paper, then painted white. She then left it to me to add the detail. looking over the designs id come up with before I added some detail to the mask to make it look as though it had been stitched together and also some scraps of ripped leather.

MAKING MASKS...

AFTER LOOKING AT SEVERAL CLIPS AND IMAGES FOR INSPIRATION FOR THE MASKS, THESE ARE THE IDEAS I HAD.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SulpWn6Glk

to get an idea for the sort of theme i wanted for the masks i looked at a couple of movie trailers. This one here is for nightmare on elm street, i think this mask works the best as its almost like skin and moves with the face.
